Reginald Gene Hargrove

Mr. Reginald Gene Hargrove, 59, of Newark, NJ entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Alaris Health at St. Mary's, Orange, NJ.

Mr. Hargrove was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia on June 4, 1965 to the late Thelma C. Hargrove and Melvin Royster, Sr. He relocated with his mom to Newark, NJ in the early 1970’s where he attended the Newark Public Schools system and graduated in June 1983 from Irvington Vocational High School. Mr. Hargrove was formerly employed by East Orange General Hospital in Security.

Mr. Hargrove was stricken with Multiple Sclerosis in his early twenties and was determined not to let this illness limit his abilities. He joined the Elmwood Presbyterian Church where he reconnected with his Lord and Savior. Reginald loved big cars and the Dallas Cowboys.

He leaves to cherish his memory a brother, Melvin Royster Jr.; a sister, Audrey Royster-Dixon; two cousins which he was raised within the home with, Shelia Murray and Sean Murray; two uncles, Henry (Wallace) Hargrove who was his dedicated caregiver; and Johnnie (Leonard) Hargrove, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Reginald Gene Hargrove will be conducted 2:00 PM. Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Dr. Shannon Hargrove-Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Oakhurst Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
