Rebecca Lee Bacon

Mrs. Rebecca L. Bacon of Chase City, VA quietly entered into eternal rest at the age of 81 on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital in Midlothian, VA. Mrs. Bacon was born on March 18, 1940, in Chase City, VA to the late John Martin, Sr. and Marie White Martin Jeffress. Mrs. Bacon accepted Christ at an early age and joined Greater Union Baptist Church, which she served on the Missionary Board and Treasurer. She was educated at Thyne Institute in Chase City, VA and worked for Jonbil Manufacturing Company for thirty plus years. Rebecca was united in Holy matrimony to Freddie Harvey Bacon, Sr. on February 21, 1959 and to this union three children were born, Freddie Jr., Janice and Evette. In addition to her parents and husband, Rebecca was preceded in death by three brothers; John Martin, William Martin and James E. Martin, Sr.; eight sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law. She will be eternally remember and cherished by two daughters: Janice B. Whitley of Sharpsburg, NC and Evette D. Del Valle (Juan) of North Chesterfield, VA; one son: Freddie H. Bacon, Jr (Mechelle) of Scottsburg, VA; six grandchildren, Danielle Easley, William Whitley, Ja'Vantay Wilkins, Demetrius Wilkins, Adrianne Del Valle and Michael Del Valle; seven great grandchildren: Roderick Easley, Ryan Easley, Riley Easley, Rayden Easley, Emberlyn Wilkins, Elijah Del Valle and Zoe Del Valle; three sisters; Bessie M. Hector and Isabella M. Bacon, both of Chase City, VA and Annie M. Russell of Plainfield, NJ; one sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 6, 2022 on the campus of Greater Union Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Linda Goode officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Masks are required to be worn for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
