Raymond Smith

Mr. Raymond Smith, 64, of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Mr. Smith was born in Charlotte County, VA August 14, 1951 to Ephraim Smith and the late Adell Allen Smith. He received his education in the Charlotte County Public Schools and later attended Job Corps where he trained to be a heavy machine operator. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Saxe, VA and was a truck driver for Toombs Logging. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Junior Smith. Cherishing his memories are his son, Miles Smith (Shelyne) of Chase City, VA, two daughters, Patrese Roberts of Chase City, VA and Levern Smith of Drakes Branch, VA; five grandchildren, Alexia, Jamarius, Johnese, Angel and SheMyia; his father, Ephraim Smith of Saxe, VA; a brother, John Smith of New Jersey; sister-in-law, Beatrice Smith of Saxe, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Raymond Smith will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Saxe, VA with Rev. Dr. James E. Scott, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Services 2:00 P.M.
