Mr. Ra’Quan Malik Canada, 22, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 13, 2021 in South Boston, VA. Mr. Canada was born October 9, 1998 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston to Linda Rawlings and Steven Canada. He attended First Baptist Church in Wylliesburg, VA, and was a 2017 graduate of Bluestone High School in Skipwith VA. He was an outstanding athlete, excelling in basketball and football. Mr. Canada was employed by Dollar General Distribution Center in South Boston as a lift operator. In addition to sports, he loved shopping, spending time with family and friends, and being the center of attention. Mr. Canada was preceded in death by a sister, Chenaya Brooks, and an uncle, Dorsey (Piper) Canada. He leaves to cherish is loving memory his parents, Linda Rawlings and Steven Canada (Gale); four sisters, Tiaa Canada, Londyn Rawlings, Takia Wade and Laniya Martin; three brothers, DaMani Jones, Jocque Atkinson and Jamari Burton; maternal grandparents, Nancy Rawlings and Willie Redd; paternal grandparents, Gwen Canada and Wayne Canada (Yvonne); aunts, Jennifer Rawlings-Pulliam, Tracy Chiles, Demetrius Smith, Deziare Boyd and Victoria Sharpe; uncles, William, John and Christopher Rawlings, Stanley, Frank and Jessie Redd, Brian Wilson, Shamus Stovall and Antonio Spencer; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside services for Mr. Ra’Quan Malik Canada will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. John L. Craighead officiating. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a mask will be required for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
