Rankin Lee Gayles

Mr. Rankin Lee Gayles, (Tender Child) 80, of Chase City, Virginia entered eternal rest Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the W.S. Hundley Annex, South Hill, Virginia.Mr. Gayles was born in Chase City, Virginia October 13, 1927, to the late Matthew and Kate Jones Gayles. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Chase City, Virginia and was employed for many years by Tom Coleman Logging.Mr. Gayles was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Gayles; one son, Roger Lee Gayles; three sisters, Gladys Jones, Cozette Dailey and Sharon Walker,  five brothers, Leslie, John Henry, Timothy, Charlie and Ephraim Gayles.He is survived by five children, Brenda Washington of South Hill, VA Anthony Gayles (Anna) and Keith Gayles all of Chase City, VA, Hilda Smallwood and Laverne Keene (Melvin) all of Newark, NJ; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four sisters, Beatrice Broadnax, Mildred Hardy, Lillian Keene, Maurice Goode (Walter) all of Chase City, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.Funeral services for Mr. Rankin Lee Gayles will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Waverly Brown, Sr., officiating.  Burial following in Berean Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA.Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
