Porter Hector Jr.

Mr. Porter (June) Hector Jr., 76, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA.   Mr. Hector was born in Shelby, North Carolina June 17, 1932 to the late Porter Sr. and Cleo Norris Hector. He received his education at Thyne elementary and high schools and was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church, Chase City, VA.  He was employed by Acco Liberty Company in West Orange, NJ for 30 years before retiring.   He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry E. Hector, one brother Lawyer Hector and one sister Mary B. Smithson.   Cherishing his memories are his wife of 55 years, Bessie M. Hector, one son, Claude E. Hector (Maxine); four grandchildren, Allen Hector, Keith Hector, Kenneth Hector and Yvette Edwards; four great-grandchildren;  three brothers, Edward Hector of Atlanta, GA, Henry Hector (Lucy) and Jimmy Hector (Florence) both of Chase City, VA; two sisters, Beatrice Washington (William) of Washington, DC, and Minnie Pearl of Newark, NJ; two brothers-in-law, John Martin and Ellis Bacon; five sisters-in-law, Madeline D. Martin, Isabella Bacon, Rebecca Bacon, Lila Hector and Annie Russell and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.   Funeral services for Mr. Porter Hector, Jr. will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Bluestone Baptist Church, Chase City,  VA with Rev. Lawrence T. Wilkerson, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery.   Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St., Chase City, VA.
