Phyllis T. Hayes

Ms. Phyllis T. Hayes, 54, of Charlotte Court House, VA entered eternal rest Friday, June 10, 2011. Ms. Hayes was born in Farmville, VA June 30, 1956 to the late Lena Spencer Thompson  and Elijah Poindexter. She received her education in the Charlotte County school system, graduating in 1973 and furthered her studies and received her associate degree at Southside Community College. She began her employment working at Keysville Mill.  Phyllis was also a well-respected and dedicated teacher’s aide in Charlotte County Public Schools. Cherishing her memory are her two daughters; Phinon Hayes-Hurt (Bryant) and Te’Lena B. Hayes; one grandson Maurice ; the father of her girls James; devoted friend, Robert; three sisters, Hattie Pugh (Wilbur) of Charlotte C.H., Willie Mae Woolridge of Newark, N.J. and devoted sister, Annie Clark of Richmond, VA.; three brothers, Theodore (Bobbie) of Irvington and Alfredrick of Newark, N.J. and Thomas (Mary) of Charlotte C.H.; mother-in-law, Ruth Hayes brothers-in-law, Kermit Lindsey, Harold Clark, Willie Hayes, William Hayes (Rosa) and Ronald Hayes (Deloris), sisters-in-law, Mary, Bobbie, Theopia and Deborah Spencer, Shirley Greene, Clara Sands, Lenora Spencer and Cynthia Staten (Joseph); ; one aunt, Mary Young; god-son, Charles Brogdon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services for Ms. Phyllis T. Hayes will be conducted 12:00 Noon Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Mossingford Baptist Church, Saxe, VA with Rev. John Craighead officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ms. Hayes may be viewed at the church Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 5 until 7 P.M. at the Hayes-Hurt residence 5218 Patrick Henry Highway, Charlotte Court House, VA. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
