PFC. Everett Payne Hargrove, 82, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at his residence. PFC. Hargrove, the eldest of three, was born in Boydton, VA on January 5, 1940 to the late Charles and Kizziah Baskerville Hargrove Brown. The family eventually relocated to Newark, NJ, where he attended Newark Public Schools, Howard and Rutgers Universities. He served in the United States Armed Forces under the branch of the Army in 1963, and attained the rank of Private First Class. He was also decorated with a Good Conduct Medal before receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1969. For over 25 years, Everett was a dedicated supervisor of the United States Postal Service until his retirement. He then went on and received his captains’ license and was proud about the yacht he purchased, which he affectionately named Kizziah, after his late mother. Everett was a history and political buff who enjoyed attending boat shows, fishing, playing chess, cooking and spending time with his family. He was a longtime member of Saint James Lodge #61 F.& A.M. Pha, and completed his York Rite climb to that of a Knight's Templar. PFC. Hargrove was also a member of Golconda Temple #24 Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. He was also very passionate about contributing to charities such as The United Negro College Fund, NAACP, Special Olympics, Shriner's Hospital and countless others. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin B. Hargrove Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories a brother, Charles Hargrove (Agatha Hall); aunts, Rosa Hargrove and Rosa Phillps; nieces and nephew, Elizabeth Jackson (Tyrone), Melvin B. Hargrove Jr., Doris Johnson (Herman), and Sherise Gregory (Lyndon); sister-in-law, Mary Hargrove, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside services for PFC. Everett P. Hargrove will be conducted 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Lands Chapel RZUA Church Cemetery, Boydton, VA. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
