Pastor William R. Holcomb Jr., 69, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. William was born in Charlotte County, VA June 6, 1952 to the late William Robert Holcomb, Sr. and Gertrude Diggs. He was a graduate of Randolph-Henry High School. He worked in the lumber industry at Lindsey Sawmill, Spaulding Lumber, and Appomattox River Company. William was baptized in Jesus’ name at Holy Name Church of Jesus (MD) and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:38. He served as a deacon, usher, choir member, minister, and in 2018 became pastor. In 1982, William married his loving wife of 39 years, May Bell. William enjoyed spending time at home with his family. William enjoyed antique car shows. He loved sharing childhood stories. William was selfless, kind-hearted, and loved by many. Pastor Holcomb leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife May Bell Holcomb; one stepson, Quentin Baskerville, Sr. (Pamela), of South Hill, VA; two daughters Shannon Winslow (Jakob) of Huachuca City, AZ and Christie Holcomb of Chase City, VA; five grandchildren, Quentin Jr., Quanetia, Jayquan, Eliana, and Elijah; two brothers, Carl Holcomb (Margie) of Mechanicsville, VA and Ryan Holcomb (Vada) of Louisa, VA; one sister, Brenda Burton of Chase City, VA; three brothers-in-law, Dandy “Daniel” Watson (Louise) of Chase City, VA, Larry Watson of Fort Mitchell, VA, and Harvey Harris of Saxe, VA, and a vast number of loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside services for Pastor William R. Holcomb, Jr. will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Woodland Cemetery, Chase City, VA with Bishop Osmond Smith officiating. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings and services.
