Mrs. Pansy Hector Lovelace, 85, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Lovelace was born in Lawndale, NC on September 17, 1936 to the late R. O. Hector and Ethel Jacobs. At an early age, her family moved to Chase City, VA where she attended the historic Thyne Institute. Later in life, she relocated to Washington, DC where she retired from the State Department with over thirty years of service. She also worked for Nursing Enterprises as a home health care nurse. She attended New Home Baptist Church and became a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Washington, DC. Mrs. Lovelace was a talented quilter; she taught her craft for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of Dorcas, the oldest African American quilting guild, as well as several others located in the Massachusetts, Maryland and DC area. Her passion for her handmade quilting won her several awards over the years. She moved back to her hometown of Chase City in 2013. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lovelace was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Nathaniel Lovelace; a son, William James Hector; grandson, Aubrey Hector, and a sister, Olivia (Tennie) Hector. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Arby Redd of Chase City, VA; sisters, Easter H. Coffield of Chase City, VA and Annie Jones of Washington, DC; brother, Irow Hector (Beverly) of Annandale, VA; grandchildren, Tonya S. Goodwin of Harrisonburg, VA, Angelica Hector and Airon Hector both of Columbus, GA and Shacola Tartt of Arlington, VA; thirteen great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Denise Hector of Columbus, GA; special niece, Betty J. Hector McBride; Godsons, Keith and Kevin Raynor; adopted sons, Andy Toole, Marvin and Lamont Dodd, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Pansy Hector Lovelace will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Sunday, July 3, 2022 in the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Lawrence T. Wilkerson, Sr., officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Bluestone Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith, VA. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings and chapel services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
