Mr. Otis D. Lyons Sr. 64, of Chase City, VA entered into eternal rest Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, Virginia. Mr. Lyons was born on December 24, 1944 to the late John and Gracie Lyons in Skipwith, Virginia. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County School System. He later moved to Washington, DC, metro area where he became certified to be an auto body repair and mechanic. Otis was employed by Marvel Auto Body Repair Shop, where he later retired. He then opened and operated a few body repair shops in the metropolitan and Virginia areas. Accepting Christ at an early age, Otis attended Rocky Mount Baptist Church, as an adult he was later baptized by Rev. Jerome Carter at Kent Baptist Church in Seat Pleasant, MD. Otis was preceded in death by one son, Dennes Lyons and nine siblings. Cherishing his memories is his wife, Minnie Lyons; one son, Otis Lyons, Jr. of Skipwith, VA, five daughters, Theresa Lyons of Suitland, MD, Karen Traynham (Lamont) of Chase City, VA, Betina Fletcher (Mike) of Baltimore, MD, Cynthia Crawley (Andrew) of Chase City, VA, and Gemese Freeman (Martin) of Suitland, MD, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, one sister, Pauline Nelson (late Walter), four brothers, William Lyons (Juanita) of Chase City, VA, James Lyons (Barbara) of Baltimore, MD, Julius Lyons (Ruth), Ralph Lyons (late Patsy), and a vast number of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Otis D. Lyons will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Jerome Carter, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St., Chase City, VA.
