Ollie Leroy Salley

Mr. Ollie Leroy Salley, Jr., (Bullie) 88, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at Meadowview Terrace, Clarksville, VA Mr. Salley was born  February 3, 1923 in Mecklenburg County, VA. He was the sixth of fourteen children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ollie and Mollie Sallie. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA until his health no longer allowed.  He was a proud member of the church’s Deacon Board and Men’s Choir for many decades. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Dr. Linda D. Salley. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Endia Salley of Chase City; three daughters, Dean O. Salley and Christine (Salley) Hayes, of Chase City and Celestine (Salley) Brooks (Leroy) of Red Oak, VA; three granddaughters, Tonya Salley-Goodwin (Joseph), Siobhan (Yancey) Richardson (Tarron), and Michelle Yancey, of Richmond, VA; one grandson, Juwan Brooks; and two great grandchildren, Hailey Fields and Peyton Richardson; three sisters, Thelma Carter, Sadie Wren,  and Mildred Sallie all of Chase City, VA;  three brothers, Thurman Salley (Irene) of Chase City, VA; Amos Sally (Laura) of Yonkers, NY; and Woodrow Sallie (Martha) of Philadelphia, PA; and one brother-in-law, Harry Thompson, Sr. (Carrie Lee); and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Ollie Leroy Salley, Jr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 30, 2011 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Raleigh Bagley III, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
