Novella Short Moore

Mrs. Novella Short Moore, 75 of Buffalo Junction, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Clarksville Health and Rehab, Clarksville, VA.

Mrs. Moore was born in Mecklenburg County, VA January 27, 1948 to the late Elmore David and Alice Mae Overby Short. She received her education in the public schools of Mecklenburg County, VA. and was a 1966 graduate of West End High School, Skipwith, VA. She continued her education at Cortez Peters Business College in Washington, DC, DC Teacher’s College and Evangel Cathedral Bible College in Maryland. She was a member of Saint Mark Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA where she served as an usher and a Missionary. She was a 41year employee of John Hopkins University, from which she retired. She was active in her community by serving on the Southside Community Services Board, Clarksville Regional Museum, AARP Occoneechee Chapter 741, and the NAACP.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Moore, and her brother, Clarence E. Short.

She leaves to cherish her memories her cousin, Vivian Ann Sydnor, God-daughters, Valyncia and Kimberly Olodun, the Short, Overby and Sydnor families; her in-laws, The Moore family in Maryland and Georgia and a vast number of other loving caring friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 8, 2023 at the chapel of C.H. Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Watkins delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Saint Mark Baptist Church Cemetery, Buffalo Junction, VA. Public viewing will be held on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
