Nelson Lenwood Hayes

Mr. Nelson L. Hayes, 56, of South Hill, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Retreat Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mr.  Hayes was born in Chase City VA,  March 6, 1953 to the late James Alexander Hayes and Albertha Wood Hayes, he was a graduate of Bluestone Senior High School and a member of Concord Baptist Church. Mr. Hayes was formerly employed as manager at Food Lion in South Hill. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Mrs. Lorraine Rose Hayes of South Hill;  his daughter, Tonia Hayes Wilkins of MD; one granddaughter, Tamasia Cooke; his mother, Albertha Hayes of Chase City, VA; four sisters, Carolyn Liggon, Sharon Bouldin and Velma Hayes of Chase City, VA, and Coretta Atkins (Darnell) of Norfolk, VA; five brothers, Eugene, Lanza (Rita), and Henry (Toni) of Chase City and Stanley (Taffy) and Donald (Joyce) of Colonial Heights, VA;  one sister-in-law, Donna Peretti of TN. Funeral services for Mr. Nelson Hayes will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. E. Douglas Reams, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 12:00 noon until service time at Concord Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Giles- Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
