Naomi W. Johnson

Mrs. Naomi Watkins Johnson, 85, of Richmond VA and formerly of Chase City, VA entered into eternal rest  May 22, 2013 at The Lynmoore, Richmond, Virginia.  Mrs. Watkins was born  March 1, 1928 in Lunenburg County, Virginia to the late Cleveland and Fannie Watkins. At an early age Naomi accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Calvary Baptist Church in Rehoboth, Virginia.  After marrying Lonius, she joined Concord Baptist Church where she served in the Ushers and Missionary ministries. She was preceded in death by nine sisters, five brothers and one grandson, Joshua McDaniel.  Cherishing her  memories are eight children, Criscella J. Allen, Wilma J. Palmer (Oscar), Forestine R. Pellegrino, Diane J. Thompson (Charles), Jon H. Johnson, Reta L. Gould (John), Lonius H. Johnson II (Rea) and Bruno D. Johnson; eight grandchildren, Orenthal Allen (Brandee), Vincent Pellegrino (Jesenia), Dawn Stafford (Earl), Marcus Palmer (Jennifer), Brandon Johnson, David Palmer (Amanda) and Leah Johns;  six great grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law, Bessie Watkins, Mercile J. Lee, Ida J. Hill, Ellinor J. Washington, Ernestine Johnson, Gail Johnson and Bonnie Johnson; three brothers-in law, Anthony Johnson, Roger Johnson and A.B. Coleman, Sr. and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Naomi Watkins Johnson   will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Raleigh Bagley III, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Service 1:00 P.M.
