Naomi Estell Puryear

Mrs. Naomi Estell Puryear, 89, of New Jersey and formerly of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, January 24, 2022. Mrs. Puryear entered into this life on March 9, 1932, in Chase City, VA. She was the first child of the late parents Thomas Keeton and Annie Bell Keeton, sister to the late, Deloris Walden and brother, Howard L. Clark. Naomi was a graduate of Historic Thyne Institute in 1950. At an early age, she was baptized and joined the Berean Baptist Church in Chase City, VA. In 1957, Naomi moved to New Jersey where she lived for the remainder of her life. She later joined First Baptist Church of Nutley, New Jersey. Naomi loved to sing, loved reading her Bible, traveling, sewing, and just enjoying life. Naomi worked at Plessey Dynamics, later to become known as General Dynamics. Naomi is preceded in death by her late husband, Curtis Puryear. She leaves to cherish her memories a Godson, Mitchel Searles, of Richmond, VA, Goddaughters, Tameka Daniel of Richmond, VA and Sonja Bass of Creedmoor, NC; brother, James Keeton (Barbara), of Fort Washington, MD; sister, Gerealdean K. Gray (Jessie), of Irvington, New Jersey; two loving God sisters, Beverly Thomas and Carol Perkins of Montclair, New Jersey, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Berean Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
