Myrtle Virginia Allen

Mrs. Myrtle Virginia Allen, 75 of Bronx, NY and formerly of Townsville, NC entered eternal rest Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at Kings Harbor Care Center, Bronx, NY. Mrs. Allen was born in Vance County, NC October 3, 1937 to the late Ralph Sr. and Harriette Eugena Small. She received her early education in Vance County, NC and later relocated to New York City where she graduated from Julia Richman High School. She was employed with an Insurance Company in Harlem for several years before leaving. Her passion and love was sewing, quilting and crocheting for many people in the community and church, which she received great pleasure and acknowledgement. She joined Canaan Baptist Church in Harlem, NY where she was a member for some time, and also attended Island Hill Christian Church, Clarksville, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Allen. Cherishing her memories are two sons, Walter A. Allen and Mark M. Allen both of New York City; one daughter, LaFay N. Allen of Wendell, NC; five grandchildren, Anthony E. Allen, Nicole C. Judge, Maurice M. Judge, Marquis D. Allen and Tamia L. Allen; four great-grandchildren, TIjon, Paris, Little Anthony and Aliyah; two brothers, Ralph Small and Dennis Small of NC; two sisters, Mary Frances Terry of New Jersey and Helen Reid of NC; one brother-in-law, Reverend John Terry and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Virginia Allen will be conducted 12:00 Noon Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Island Hill Christian Church, Clarksville, VA with Rev. John Jefferson, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowview Memorial Park, Oxford, NC. Viewing for Mrs. Allen will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 11:30 A.M. until service time. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
