Miss Myrtle Evora Winn, 66, of Brooklyn, NY and formerly of Fort Mitchell, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, June 5, 2008 at New York Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, NY. Miss Winn was born in Fort Mitchell, VA September 24, 1941 to the late Bernard and Pauline Bacon Winn. She was a graduate of Lunenburg High School in Victoria, Virginia. Miss Winn was a 26 year employee for the City of New York Department of Finance, and attended New Frontier Baptist Church in Brooklyn. Ms. Winn was preceded in death by her two brothers, Claude and Calvin Winn. She is survived by two sisters, Hilda Hamlett (Job) of Brooklyn, New York and Sandra Gobourne, of Chesterfield, Virginia; one brother, Caroyl Winn (Gladys) of Richmond, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Margaret Winn of Drakes Branch, Virginia; one aunt, Inez Bacon of Brooklyn, New York; one uncle, John Bacon of Fort Mitchell, Virginia; and a vast number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and caring friends including dear friends, Thelma Staten of Brooklyn, New York; Adrienne Hudgens of Goochland, Virginia. Funeral services for Miss Myrtle E. Winn will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. Fran Jackson, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St. Chase City, VA.
