Mildred Lucille Salley

Miss Mildred Lucille Salley, 84, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, May 15, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Salley was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on September 16, 1932 to the late Ollie Sr. and Mollie Holmes Salley. She received her early education in the Mecklenburg County school system and South Hill Training School. At an early age, she joined Concord Baptist Church, later joining Williams Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. Mrs. Salley was a former employee of John Hopkins Hospital. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Salley was preceded in death by seven sisters, Thelma Carter, Annie Silver, Alice Mae Hayes, Ruth King, Carrie Powell, Sadie Whren and Sara Lane, and three brothers, Alfred, Lynn Edward and Ollie Salley. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Franklin Lee Salley of Chase City, VA; three brothers, Woodrow Salley (Martha) of Philadelphia, PA, John Salley (Laura) of Yonkers, NY and Thurman Salley (Irene) of Chase City, VA; one sister-in-law, Endia Salley of Chase City, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Miss Mildred Lucille Salley will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 19, 2017 at Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Andy Hargrove officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
