Mildred Gayles Hardy

Mrs. Mildred Gayles Hardy, 86, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, August 20, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Hardy was born in Mecklenburg County, VA June 23, 1925 to the late Matthew and Katie Jones Gayles. She attended Thyne Institute, Chase City, VA and was a member of Berean Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Hardy, Sr. and one son, Woodrow Hardy, Jr. Cherishing her memories are six children, Barbara White, Nancy Carolyn Hayes and James Curtis Hardy all of Chase City, VA, Warren Lee Hardy (Marlene) and Melvin Hardy all of Skipwith, VA and Joyce Hardy of Clarksville, VA; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Keene and Maurice Goode (Walter) all of Chase City, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Gayles Hardy will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 26, 2011 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Willie L. Carter, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for Mrs. Hardy will begin 12:00 Noon Friday at the church. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
