Michael Douglas Edmonds

Mr. Michael Douglas Edmonds, 47, of Drakes Branch, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Centra Southside Community Hospital, Farmville, VA.

Mr. Edmonds, affectionately known as “Mike”, was born in South Boston, Virginia on February 23, 1977 to Frederick D. and Mary L. Edmonds. He accepted Christ at an early age, and joined First Baptist Church in Wylliesburg, VA. Mr. Edmonds graduated from Randolph-Henry High School in Charlotte Court House, VA in 1995. He entered the work force immediately after high school then went on to earn several trade certificates. Mike was a comedian, and outside of making others laugh and being the social butterfly, he enjoyed fishing, was a great cook/griller and loved hanging out with his closest friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wirt and Inez Lambert; maternal grandparents, James and Dorothy W. Powell, Sr., and his half-brother, Matthew Edmonds.

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter Shanquail Edmonds of Winston-Salem, NC; son, Shakeem Edmonds (Salma) of Lynchburg, VA; granddaughter, Valeria Marie Edmonds; his parents, Frederick and Mary Edmonds of Drakes Branch, VA; two sisters, MSgt (Retired) Lisa V. Wells and LaDonna Bacon (Darrell) both of Charlotte, NC; half-brother, Antonio Craighead of South Boston, VA; six uncles, Jerome Edmonds (Lenora) of Richmond, VA, Dennis Powell of Scottsburg, Bobby Powell and Messiah Powell of South Boston, VA, Grafton McCargo and Joseph Winn both of Saxe, VA; four aunts, Lola Powell of South Boston, VA, Gloria Powell of Stafford, VA, Linda Edmonds of Turbeville, VA and Rosa Powell of Boydton, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Michael Douglas Edmonds will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Charles Scott, officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
