Melvin N. Hatcher

Mr. Melvin N. Hatcher, 65, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Hatcher was born in Mecklenburg County, VA September 25, 1947 to the late Winthy Sr. and Julia Harper Hatcher. He was a 1966 graduate of West End High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Hatcher was a member of Silone Baptist Church and a member of the R.C. Yancey Masonic Lodge #284. He was previously a self- employed plumber, a retiree of Burlington Industries as well as Reliable Transportation. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hatcher was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Brenda S. Hatcher of Chase City, VA; five children, Kelly and Cameron Hatcher of Chase City, VA , Brandon and Melvin Hatcher Jr. of Richmond, VA and Camille Baskerville (Kevin) of South Hill, VA; eleven grandchildren, one sister, Earline Palmer (Lindell) of South Hill, VA; three brothers, Winthy Hatcher, Jr. Robert L. Hatcher (Elsie) and Marvin Hatcher (Pamela) all of Chase City, VA; a mother-in-law; two brothers-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
