Melvin Franklin Daves

Mr. Melvin Franklin Daves, 64, of Newark, NJ entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. Mr. Daves was born in Newark, New Jersey to the late Maybe and Dossie Daves on May 5, 1947.  At an early age he gave his life to Christ and was a member at Cedar Grove Baptist Church #1.  Melvin was educated in New Jersey, and graduated high school in 1966.  Melvin worked with Newark’s pre-school. In addition to his parents, Melvin was predeceased by a brother, Norman Daves, Sr. He leaves to cherish his legacy and memory, his daughter, Michelle Dixs of Newark, NJ; three sisters, Loretta Daves of Irvington, NJ, Connie Daves Tention of Buffalo Jct., Betty Daves of Clarksville,; six brothers, Richard and Thomas Daves both of Boydton, Ronald Daves of Buffalo Jct., Larry Daves of Union, NJ, Howard and Harold Daves of Newark, NJ; three aunts, Inez Gregory, Marie Boswell, and Onethia Boswell, all of Clarksville; three  sisters-in law, Della Daves of Boydton, Alma Daves, of Irvington, NJ and Dorothy Daves of Union, NJ; a dear friend Emma Baker of Newark, NJ,  and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Melvin Franklin Daves  will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church #1, 240 Boswell Road, Clarksville, VA, with Mrs. Dorothy Daves, officiating.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
