Mrs. Mattie Mae Sims Odemns, 102, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at her residence.
Mrs. Odemns was born in Shelby, NC on January 3, 1921 to the late James and Mary Byrd Sims. She was well known for her cooking, and enjoyed singing, gardening and being with her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Odemns was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Odemns, Sr., and her sons, Raymond Earl Odemns, Sr. and Eric Reynolds.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory three sons, James Moon (Marie) of Chase City, VA, Robert T. Odemns, Jr. (Emmalean) of Clinton, MD and Kenneth Odemns (Martha) of Washington, DC; two daughters, Joanne Hutcheson of Temple Hills, MD and Frances Dailey (Harold) of Upper Marlboro, MD, four generations of family, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Mae Sims Odemns will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. William Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
