Matthew Junior Edmonds

Mr. Matthew Junior Edmonds, 74, of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Chase City Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Edmonds was born in Saxe, VA on January 25, 1945 to the late Eddie Edmonds and Inez Edmonds Lambert. He attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA, later attending a vocational school where he studied plumbing. Mr. Edmonds was a member of First Baptist Church in Wylliesburg, VA, and a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Boswell Edmonds; his stepfather, Wirt Lambert; three brothers, James, Charlie and Marion, and three sisters, Margaret McCargo, Hattie Harris, and Irma Marylena Edmonds. Cherishing his memories are one son, Dwayne Matthew Edmonds of Newark, NJ; grandchildren; two brothers, Jerome Edmonds (Lenora) of Richmond, VA and Fred Edmonds (Mary) of Drakes Branch, VA; one sister, Gail Winn (Joseph) of Saxe, VA; one sister-in-law, Linda Edmonds; one brother-in-law, Grafton McCargo, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Matthew Junior Edmonds will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. John Craighead officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
