Matthew Frederick Greene, Jr.

Mr. Matthew F. Greene, Jr., 34, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Mr. Greene, affectionately known as “BO”, was born November 4, 1989 in Yonkers, NY to Matthew, Sr. and Janice Greene. At a young age, he and his family relocated to Chase City, VA. He gave his life to Christ and was baptized and joined Calvary Baptist Church where he sang on the Youth Choir for many years. Mr. Greene graduated from Bluestone High School in Skipwith in 2009. While there, he excelled at basketball, football and baseball. He loved to cook, do landscaping and carpentry work, drive and travel. Mr. Greene was a jack of all trades as he worked a variety of jobs. BO was known as being a protector of any and everyone that he loved. He will truly be missed.

Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his brothers, Jamond Salley and SGT First Class Monty Dakatia Greene; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Irene Hatcher Maddox; paternal grandparents, James and Virginia Greene; and one aunt, Joyce Pulliam.

He leaves to cherish fond memories a daughter, Alisia Alexander; Goddaughters, Jehlani Oliver and Khalecsi Cypress; father, Matthew Greene, Sr.; mother, Janice Salley (Christopher); brothers, Rondell Maddox, Chris Boyd, Lamar Williams (Roberta) and Devonte Saunders; sisters, Julia Greene, Janice Moore (Josh), Shayla Boyd, Kiara Greene and Chantel Parrish; godmothers, Deneta Walker and Diana Hardy; sister-in-law Brentny Greene, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

A memorial service for Mr. Matthew F. Greene, Jr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church, Victoria, VA with Rev. Gwen Starr officiating. A public viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home.
