Mr. Matthew Douglas Edmonds, 30, of Wylliesburg, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, April 21, 2024 at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA.
Mr. Edmonds, affectionately known as “Pookie”, was born on July 28, 1993 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA to Thelma Boyd-Craighead and Fredrick Edmonds. He received his formal education in the Charlotte County Public Schools and joined First Baptist Church in Wylliesburg, VA at a young age. While there he sang with the youth choir and participated on the Praise Dance Team. Mr. Edmonds worked numerous jobs; he was most recently employed by Microsoft. In his spare time, he loved to fish and hang out with friends and family. He also loved playing cards and Fan Dual. Matthew was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
He leaves to cherish loving memories one daughter, Alisia Alexander of Meherrin, VA; one son, Zaxton Edmonds of Drakes Branch, VA; parents, Thelma Boyd-Craighead and Fredrick Edmonds (Mary); siblings, Maggie Evans of Wylliesburg, VA, James Michael Craighead (Keshia) of Red Oak, VA, Alfred Craighead of Red Oak, VA, Michael Edmonds of Richmond, VA, LaDonna Bacon (Darrell) of Charlotte, NC, Lisa Wells of Charlotte, NC and Antonio Craighead of South Boston, VA; aunts, Catherine Boyd-Irvin, Olia Daniel (Godmother), Peggy Boyd (Sharrod), and Lattie Boyd; uncles, Clyde Boyd, Jr. (Sally), David Boyd, Frank Boyd (Consuelo), and Jerome Edmonds (Lenora); two great aunts, Estelle Boyd and Hazel Mosley, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Matthew Douglas Edmonds will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Sunday, April 28, 2024 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. John Craighead, officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
