Mary Willie Tucker

Mrs. Mary Willie Tucker (Mae), 88, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC. Mrs. Tucker was born on April 18, 1933 to the late Millard F. and Betty Skipper Smith. At an early age, she joined Rocky Branch Baptist Church where she served on the Usher board. She later relocated to Chase City and joined Silone Baptist Church, serving as an Usher, Missionary, and was on the Kitchen Committee. Mrs. Tucker was formerly employed by Burlington Industries, and for the Town of Chase City for over 50 years. She was a volunteer at the local food bank, and enjoyed family gatherings, court tv, and talking with family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband Lewis (Jimbo) Tucker; son, Lewis Tucker, Jr, and two sisters, Queenie Townsend and Ophelia Crawley. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Pearl Andrews of Chase City, VA; grandson, Jeffrey Andrews of Chase City, VA; two great-grandsons, Jehquan Andrews of Virginia Beach, VA and Jayson Andrews of Greensburg, PA; Goddaughter, Takeya Hicks, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Willie Tucker will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 21, 2021 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. John Craighead officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, Saxe, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a mask will be required for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
