Mary W. Barnette

Mrs. Mary W. Barnette, 85, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, June 21, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Barnette was born in Mecklenburg County, VA June 19, 1934 to the late Willie and Julia Fields Moore. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA, and was a member of Concord Baptist Church and The Pride of Mecklenburg #178 Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnette was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Barnette, Sr. and a son, Charles Barnette. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Peggy Smith and Joyce B. Alexander (Charles) all of Chase City, VA; three sons, Larry Barnette (Bernadette) and Kenneth Barnette all of Richmond, VA and James Barnette, Jr. (Belinda) of Lynchburg, VA; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Fuller of Chase City, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary W. Barnette will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Linda Goode delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
