Mary Virginia White Puryear

Mrs. Mary Virginia White Puryear, 90, departed this earthly life October 19, 2018 at her home in Springfield, VA. Mrs. Puryear was born in Mecklenburg County, VA May 20, 1928 to the late Archer and Virgie Pulliam White. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA, and on December 26, 1951, she married the late Alfred Elliott Puryear. Mrs. Puryear worked for various companies to include Bonnie Bright, Honeywell and Marriott. In 1972 she retired to become a child care provider. In addition to her parents, husband, and 16 siblings, Mrs. Puryear was preceded in death by two children, Gloria Diane and Johnny Cornell Puryear, and one granddaughter, Donetta Louise Puryear. She leaves to cherish her memories three children, Shirley Puryear Stephens, Alfred D. Puryear and Florence Loretta Puryear; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ricky White, four sisters-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Virginia White Puryear will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Franklin Watson II officiating. Burial will follow in the White Family Cemetery, Skipwith, VA. Public viewing will begin on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
