Mary Virginia Walker Lindo

Ms. Mary Virginia Lindo, 81 of South Hill, VA and formerly of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Friday, March 3, 2017 at VCU/ Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, VA. Ms. Lindo was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on January 3, 1936 to the late Alfrata Agnes Walker and James Watkin Walker. She received her formal education in the Mecklenburg County Public School system and attended business school after graduation. She was employed as an administrative assistant for Washington National Insurance Company in Newark, NJ prior to retiring. Ms. Lindo was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church; there she was a member of the missionary committee, served as pastor aide and treasurer for many years. Ms. Lindo relocated to Newark, NJ in 1954. It was there in 1959 she met and married her late former husband, Lewis A. Lindo, Sr. This union was blessed with a son, Lewis Augustus Lindo, Jr. In addition to her parents and her former husband, Ms. Lindo was preceded in death by her sister-in- law, Barbara Walker; a niece, Stephanie Pulliam and a great-niece, Tasha Roberts. Cherishing her fond memories are her son, Lewis Augustus Lindo, Jr. of Charlotte NC; her brother, James Albert Walker of Boydton, VA; her nieces, Sherri Roberts (Connell) of Chase City VA, Wanda Smith (Mark) of Skipwith, VA, Lisa Stacy of Maryland; one nephew, Daryl Walker of Newark, NJ and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Lone Oak Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Freddie Terry, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Easter Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing will begin Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
