Mary Staten Francis

Mrs. Mary Staten Francis, 88, of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at her residence.

Mrs. Francis, affectionately called Mary Willie, was born in Charlotte County, VA on September 19, 1935 to the late Isaac and Pattie Gregory Staten. She attended the Charlotte County public schools, and at an early age joined First Baptist Church in Wylliesburg, VA. Mrs. Francis was formerly employed by Jonbil, Inc. as a jean inspector. In her spare time, she also assisted on the family farm. She married William Jerry Francis in 1959, and this union was blessed with three children.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Francis was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Staten, and two brothers, Joe Louis Staten and Claborne Lee Staten.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Armenta Delaney (Vernon) and Mary E. Hood (Hamlet) both of N. Chesterfield, VA and Alberta Fields (Jesse) of Saxe, VA; four grandsons, Javon Delaney, Hamlet E. Hood, III, Christopher A. Hood and Dameon F. Fields; one great-grandson, Zion A. Hood; sister, Pearl L. Brown of Chase City, VA; brother, Isaac Staten, Jr. (Jessie) of Bushkill, PA; aunt, Dorothy Staten of Red Oak, VA; sister-in-law, Racheal Staten; devoted caregiver, Barbie Goode, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Staten Francis will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA with Rev. Opie Terrell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
