Mary Louise Harper

Mrs. Mary Louise Oliver Harper, 80, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, March 08, 2013 at Hospice at the Meadowlands, Hillsborough, NC. Mrs. Harper was born in South Hill, VA November 5, 1932 to the late Tommy Oliver and Ruth Campbell Oliver. She graduated from Mecklenburg County Training School and was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA.  She served as a Deaconess, choir member and was on the kitchen committee until her health declined. In addition to her father, Mrs. Harper was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah P. Crowder of Chase City, VA and one brother, James A. Oliver of Jersey City, NJ. Cherishing her memories are  her husband, Albert Harper of Chase City, VA; one son, Thomas B. Harper (Tara) of Hurdle Mills, NC;  five grandchildren, Wartena G. Crowder, Trevor B. Harper, Delron Crowder, Taj E. Harper and Twyla W. Harper; her mother, Ruth Oliver of South Hill, VA; four brothers, George W. Oliver and William T. Oliver both of Jersey City, NJ, John E. Oliver (Margaret) of Barnegat, NJ and Ernest Oliver (Mildred) of South Hill, VA, one son-in-law, Warren Crowder of Chase City, VA; one  sister-in-law, Thelma Oliver of Jersey City, NJ; one brother-in-law, John Greene of NY; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Louise Oliver Harper will be conducted 12:00 noon Monday, March 11, 2013 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Raleigh Bagley III officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
