Mary Lola Moody Stokes

Mrs. Mary Lola Moody Stokes, 95, of Farmville, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Stokes was born in Charlotte County, VA January 29, 1924 to the late Fountain Moody, Sr. and Mary Boyd Moody. She attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA, Bluestone Mission, Clarksville, VA, Thyne Institute, Chase City, VA and Saint Paul’s College, Lawrenceville, VA. She was employed as an extension agent prior to retirement, and was a former member of the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin L. Stokes, five brothers and four sisters. Left to cherish her precious memories are a brother, Dr. Ferman B. Moody of Harrisburg, PA; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Moody of Red Oak, VA, Anita Moody of Philadelphia, PA and Mattie Moody of Harrisburg, PA; numerous nieces and nephews, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lola Moody Stokes will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Saint Level Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA with Rev. Toney Smith delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
