Mary Liza Salley

Ms. Mary Liza Salley, 103, of Chase City, VA died on Friday, September 30, 2022 at her residence.

Ms. Salley was born on October 7, 1918 in Skipwith, VA to the late William and Elizabeth Salley. She studied with Jehovah’s Witnesses, and dedicated her life by being baptized on December 8, 2007. She faithfully served Jehovah through the years. Ms. Salley had a fulfilling and active life. She was a great cook, loved watching western movies, listening to music and traveling. She also loved quilting and playing spades.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three children, James Russell, Carolyn Russell and Jerry Russell.

She leaves to cherish her memories four children, Shirley Wilkins (Albert) of Danville, VA, Evelyn Hayes of Angier, NC, Annette Hayes (Charles) of Chase City, VA and Langston Russell, Jr. (Deborah) of South Boston, VA; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Mary Liza Salley will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 7, 2022 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral home, Chase City, VA with Brother Clarence Noel conducting the service. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
