Mrs. Mary Frances Reavis Blackwell, 71, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mrs. Blackwell was born on November 15, 1948 in Lunenburg County, VA, the oldest child of the late Claude Smith Reavis, Sr. and Zenora Jones Reavis. She attended grade school in Lunenburg County, and secondary school in Mecklenburg County, VA. At an early age, she joined Williams Grove Baptist Church; she would later move her membership to Bethlehem Baptist Church in Chase City. Mrs. Blackwell was previously employed by Lunenburg County Public Schools. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blackwell was preceded in death by her brother, Claude Reavis, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Clarence Blackwell of Chase City, VA; son, Ronnie Blackwell of South Hill, VA; brother, Theodore Reavis of Victoria, VA; two sisters, Gloria Scott (Willie) of Chase City, VA, and Patricia Gee of Victoria, VA; uncle, John Jones of Warren, OH; brother-in-law, Herman Blackwell, Jr. (Perscilla) of Clarksville, VA; four sisters-in-law, Bettye Blackwell of Durham, NC, Katherene Murray of Henrico, VA, Pauline Keeton (Joseph) of Chase City, VA and Brenda Blackwell of Newport News, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Frances Reavis Blackwell will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Ricky A. Lee officiating. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a mask will be required for all viewings and services. We ask that you adhere to all guidelines, and practice social distancing. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
