Ms. Mary Frances Pulliam, 87, of Brooklyn, NY entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Brooklyn Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Ms. Pulliam was born in Skipwith, VA on July 6, 1936 to the late Morton Pulliam and Willie Nash. She was a 1953 graduate of West End High School in Skipwith, VA and a member of St. Luke Baptist Church. She relocated to Brooklyn and received a Bachelor's Degree from Brooklyn College, CUNY. Ms. Pulliam worked for the NYC Department of Social Services as a Social Worker and eventually a Case Manager, retiring after 30 years of service in 1995. Mary Frances was a determined, hard working woman and avid reader. She also enjoyed engaging in genealogy research, traveling to her favorite vacation destinations and bargain hunting at her favorite department stores.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Elise Spinner; and siblings, Charles, Gloster, Elnora, Gertrude, Josephine, Marion Inez, and Jacqueline Pulliam.
She is survived by sons, Anthony Alexander of Long Island, NY and Sean Pulliam of Alexandria, VA; daughter, Sharon Pulliam of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Keith Andrew Smith, Ta’Sean Monroe, Kevin Smith, Sean Pulliam, Jr., Shanice Monroe, Keturah Renee Cox, Imani Bigsby, and Cicily Durant; great- grandchildren, Quinn, K’lani, and Blaze; sisters, Annie, Dorothy, and Hazel Pulliam all of Arlington, VA; brothers, Morton Jr., Robert, and Willis Pulliam all of Arlington, VA and Elijah Shabazz of Mecklenburg County, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Ms. Mary Frances Pulliam will be conducted 11:00 A.M Saturday, July 20, 2024 at St. Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Franklin Watson, II delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will begin on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church.
