Mary Elizabeth Jones Turner

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Jones Turner 96, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, March 6, 2009 in Chase City, VA. Mrs. Turner was born in Northview, VA Nov. 24, 1912, the third of six children born to the late Joe Emmett and Mary Agnes Green Jones. She attended Wightman School and was a member of Williams Grove Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. She was a retired Food Service Manager for John F. Kennedy Airport, Queens, NY. Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Turner, a daughter, Doris Murvene Wilson; two brothers, Alton and Charles Bell and one sister, Alma Phillips. Cherishing her memories are three grandchildren, Darien E. Wilson of West Orange, NJ, Thais Wilson Porter of Freeport, NY and Anton C. Wilson of Woodland Hills, CA; four great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Bell of Chase City, VA; one brother, Truly Jones (Lorraine) of Bracey, VA and a vast number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Jones Turner will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 13, 2009 at Williams Grove Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Dr. Frank  S. Harrison, officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Plain Lawn Cemetery, Hicksville, NY. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St. Chase City, VA.
