Mary Elizabeth Andrews Jackson Young

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Andrews Jackson Young, 100, of Silver Spring, MD and formerly of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at her residence.

Mrs. Young was born in Boydton, VA on May 10, 1924 to the late Robert, Jr. and Virginia Gray Andrews. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a graduate of West End High School in Clarksville, VA, Class of 1941. She relocated to Washington, DC, where she worked for the federal government, primarily for the Department of Defense at the U.S. Pentagon. She worked in various administrative capacities for over 30 years. Upon retirement, she used her skills at various private sector companies in the Washington metropolitan area. Mrs. Young joined the United Methodist Church of Hyattsville, MD.

She was married to the late Oscar Franklin Jackson, Sr. and later married the late William Henry Young. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Oscar Franklin Jackson, Jr.; four brothers, William Woodrow Andrews, Robert Cleveland Andrews, Samuel D. Andrews, Sr., and Blair Wilbert Andrews; and five sisters, Catherine Andrews, Mattie Andrews, Dorothy Lee Andrews Brooks Taylor, and Teresa Andrews Hayes.

Mrs. Young is survived by three sons, Quentin Howard Jackson, Donald Edward Jackson (Pam), and William Henry Jackson (Martine); three daughters, Barbara Ann Jackson Leekins (Osman), Michelle Lynn Jackson, and Sharon Evette Jackson; seven grandchildren, Lenora Leekins Odom (Thomas), Donald E. Jackson Jr., Osman Leekins Jr., Aminah Leekins, Fred Benjamin III, Diamond T. Smith Toles (Leroy), and Maryam Pascale Jackson Young; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry Lee Andrews, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Andrews Jackson Young will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 21, 2025 at Jerusalem Temple United Holy Church, Boydton, VA with Elder Kenyatta Evans, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will begin on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made in the memory of Mrs. Mary Andrews Jackson Young to Jerusalem Temple United Holy Church, 443 Skipwith Rd, Boydton Virginia 23917.
