Mary Boyd Townes

Mrs. Mary Boyd Townes, 79, of Chase City, VA and formerly of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Friday, April 6, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Townes was born in Boydton, VA July 25, 1932 to the late Henry and Mamie Leggs Boyd. She was a graduate of the historic Thyne Institute, Chase City, VA and was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and caregiver. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Townes was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert A. Townes and five siblings. Cherishing her memories are a devoted daughter, Keysa K. Atkinson (Thomas) four grandchildren, Crystal, Keona, Tiffany and Thomas Jr. and one special great-grandson, Tre Vonte; childhood friend, Clara B. Hardy and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Boyd Townes will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Willie L. Carter, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Methodist Church Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
