Mary Alice Tucker

Mrs. Mary Alice Tucker, 85, of Fayetteville, NC and formerly of Skipwith, VA entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, NC. Mrs. Tucker was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia September 20, 1931 to the late Rankin Smith and Bessie Snead. She received her education in the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was formerly employed by Russell Stover Candies, Hampco Apparel and retired from EZ Shop in Clarksville, VA. Before moving to Fayetteville, NC, Mrs. Tucker was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA. In 2003, she united and became a faithful member of Mount Sinai Missionary Church in Fayetteville, NC. While attending Mount Sinai, she was a beloved member of the Mother’s Board and was also inducted into the Circle of Elders. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Prince E. Tucker Sr.; two sons, Charles and Prince Jr.; one daughter, Virginia Elizabeth; one grandson, Christopher; one great-grandson, Sevon and four siblings Robert, Robertha, James and Marjorie. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Delois Jackson of Oxford, NC, Hazel Tucker (Greg) of New Carrollton, MD, Nancy Tucker (Anthwan) of Prince Frederick, MD, Ricky Tucker (Edryce) of Fayetteville, NC, Brian Tucker (Ana) of Annandale VA and Tasha Pearson (Joseph) of Clarksville, VA; 29 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; five sisters, Virginia, Daisy, Bessie-Mae, Florene and Mattie; two brothers, Ephram and Samuel; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Tucker; devoted son-in-law, Howard Somerville; also her special Church family and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Willie L. Carter, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith-Tucker Cemetery, Chase City. Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday, February 24th from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
