Mrs. Martha Royster Atkins, 72, of Skipwith, VA entered into eternal rest Friday, November 25, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Atkins was born in Mecklenburg County, VA July 21, 1944 to the late John Henry and Mary Lucille Pulliam Royster. She received her education in the Mecklenburg County Public School system and at an early age joined Saint Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA. She was a member of Pride of Mecklenburg Chapter #178, Order of the Eastern Star of VA; where she served as Treasurer for over 25 years. She was a retiree of Russell Stover Candy Company. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Atkins and two brothers, Leroy and James Anthony Royster. Cherishing her memories are two sons, Calvin Darnell Atkins (Coretta) of Norfolk, VA and Charles Garrett Atkins of Williamsburg, VA; three grandchildren, Rodney and Shaunda Atkins, and Laurie Clay Jackson; two great grandchildren, Zuri and Pedro Jr.; two brothers, Carl Royster (Helen) of Newark, NJ and John Royster (Wanda) of Chase City, VA; one god brother, Fred Willis (Marlene); six sisters, Dr. Laura Royster of Detroit, MI, Hazel R. Robertson of Skipwith, VA, Cecelia R. Irby and Joann Royster (Linwood) of Chase City, VA, Deborah Howard (Marcus) of Williamsburg, VA and Theresa R. Stephens (Leslie) of Fredericksburg, VA; sister-in-law, Alice Winkler; brother-in-law, Linwood Atkins and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Royster Atkins will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Saint Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Franklin Watson II delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
