Martha Ann Graine

Mrs. Martha Walker Graine, 87, of Chase City VA entered eternal rest Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Meadowview Terrace,  Clarksville, VA. Mrs. Graine was born in South Hill, VA September 13, 1922 to the late Walter Walker and Ida Taylor Walker.  She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of Silone Baptist Church.  She migrated to New York after high school and later moved to Philadelphia, PA. While living in Philadelphia she was a memebr of National Temple Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sunday school, Usher Board, Choir and other auxiliaries. She  was previously employed as teacher’s aide in the Pennsylvania public schools.  She migrated to Chase City in 1997. Cherishing her memories are two sisters, Louise W. Tisdale and Ida L. Walker both of Chase City, VA; three brothers, Willie and Robert Walker of Philadelphia, PA, and Walter Walker (Janet) of Springfield, MA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A memorial service will be conducted 12:00 noon Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Silone Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Melvin J. Palmer, officiating and Rev.James A. Hudson Jr. delivering the eulogy. Inurnment will take place at Lombardy Grove Baptist Church, South Hill, VA at a later date.. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
