Marshall J. Pettus (Flap)

Mr. Marshall J. Pettus “Flap”, 76 of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Pettus was born in Mecklenburg County, VA June 6, 1936 to the late Pauline Pettus. He was raised by his late grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Pettus. Marshall attended Concord Elementary school and was a member of  Holy Name Church of Jesus, Chase City, VA.  Mr. Pettus was a farmer in early life and later became a logger until his health began to fail.   Cherishing his memories are his devoted step grandson, Chad Hayes of Chase City, VA; a God-son, Clarence Day of Chase City, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Marshall J. Pettus will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Pastor Gladys Watson, officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Viewing will be Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
