Mark Anthony Smith

Mr. Mark Anthony Smith, 62, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, January 5, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Smith was born in Chase City, VA on July 31, 1960 to Mary Blanche Smith and the late Joe Lee Smith. He was a 1978 graduate of Bluestone High School in Skipwith, VA, and was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA. Mr. Smith was employed as a correctional officer for Lunenburg Correctional Center, Victoria, VA. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Timothy, Kevin and Ronald Smith, and a sister, Pamela Hatcher.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Wanda Smith of Skipwith, VA; one son, Marcus Antonio Smith of Skipwith, VA; his mother, Mary Blanche Smith; four brothers, Irving Wilson (Francine) of Hampton, VA, Charles Smith (Juanita) of Boydton, VA and Samuel Smith (Helen) and Russell Smith both of Skipwith, VA; three sisters, Robbin Smith of Richmond, VA, Byrd Staten (Henry) of Charlotte, NC and Yolanda Staten of Skipwith, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Mark Anthony Smith will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Dennis King officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
