Marian Watkins Howerton, 94, of Buffalo Junction, Virginia entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at her residence. Mrs. Howerton was born August 26, 1927 to James and Ferry Belle Watkins in Halifax County, Virginia. She attended the schools of Halifax County, Virginia and was a member of White Oak Fork Baptist Church, Virgilina, VA. Mrs. Howerton found great joy in planting flowers, bushes and trees. She was very skillful but loved to sew and quilting with special designs. She found pleasure in helping others. On June 9, 1956, Marian married her sweetheart/best friend William H. Howerton who spent a beautiful life together for 56 years. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, all her siblings (Willie, Carlie, Theodore, Johnny James, Benton Watkins, Jewel Watkins, Emma Williamson, Blanche Waller, Thelma Hutcheson and Nettie Pierce) and her son-in-law, Carnell Royster. Left to cherish many beautiful memories are her daughters and their spouses, Arlene (Wayne “Mike” Nelson) and Carolyn (Lawrence Edward Day), grandson, Jeffrey Royster; many nieces, nephews, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at White Oak Fork Baptist Church, Virgilina, Virginia with Rev. Glenn Faulkner, delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Watkins Family Cemetery, Virgilina, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
