Maggie Lucille Amis Leake, 91, of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Clarksville, VA transitioned to Glory on Friday, December 18, 2020. Born in Clarksville, Virginia on August 27, 1929 to the late William and Lucy Amis, she was the youngest of fifteen children all of whom preceded her in death. She worked for many years as an educator, clinician and the IRS where she retired. Affectionately referred to as “MaLeake,” she loved spending time with her family, traveling, playing card games, and eating different foods from around the world, especially seafood. She loved the Lord and would let you know that she was “blessed and highly favored!” She was affiliated in several civic, social and community organizations. So very blessed by precious memories are her children, Charles “Rick” Leake (Darleen) of Newport Richey, FL; Petrina Mattier (Amsul Jay) of Charlotte, NC; Pamela Stevenson of Waldorf, MD; Anita Ford (Clifford) of Anaheim, CA; Donna Robinson of Charlotte, NC; Robin White (Marvin) of Charlotte, NC; Sheree Jones of Newport News, VA; Joseph Leake of Brewster, NY; Tony Leake (Gloria) of Woonsocket, RI; Monique Covington of Newport News, VA; 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Elsie Amis of Washington, DC; Inez Hanson of Fremont, CA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Hospice & Palliative Care of Charlotte. Your compassion, love and 24/7 support will never be forgotten. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Wharton Memorial Gardens, Nelson, VA with Pastor Wallace Brown, officiating. Public viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 6 PM. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a mask will be required for all viewings and services. We ask that you adhere to all guidelines, and practice social distancing.
