Magalene Marrow Smith

Mrs. Magalene Marrow Smith, 80, of East Orange, NJ entered eternal rest Friday, December 22, 2017 in Newark, NJ. Mrs. Smith was born in Mecklenburg County, VA October 21, 1937 to the late Colonel and Bessie Gregory Marrow. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and at an early age joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church #1, Clarksville, VA. After relocating she joined Positive Proof Ministry of East Orange, NJ, where she served as the mother of the church. Cherishing her memories are her husband, Dewey Smith of East Orange, NJ; three children, Glendora Bridell of Savannah, GA; Dewey Smith Jr. (Noel) of Killen, TX and Rhonda Moore (Roger) of Tobyhanna, PA; ten grandchildren, Anisa Smith-Jones, Shatira Smith, Tyreek Green, Roger Moore, Jr. , Amir Moore, Shadea Moore, April Parham, Jewel Smith, Medina Smith and Michael Smith; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Smith of Montclair, NJ; three sisters-in-law, Redes Smith, Mabel Smith and Rev. Ruth Marrow and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Saint Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Franklin Watson, II and Rev. Curtis Moore, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 7 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
