On Tuesday, August 7, 2018, Ms. Madeline Lavern Rainey Broadie, 68, of Richmond, VA entered into eternal rest at VCU Medical Center, Richmond VA, Ms. Broadie, affectionately known as "Balley", was born March 31, 1950 in Richmond, VA to Inez Jones Rainey and the late James T. Rainey, Sr. She attended Thyne Elementary School, West End High School, and graduated from Saint Paul's College in Lawrenceville, VA with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 210. Ms. Broadie worked at MCV Payroll Department, Richmond Public Schools Head Start Program, and retired from Big Lots, Inc. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Danishia and Christal Broadie; one grandson, Braeden Lewis; her mother, Inez Rainey; four sisters, Marcella R. Leigh, Debora R. Johns, Janet M. Rainey, and Sandra E. Rainey; one brother, James T. Rainey, Jr. (Karen); one niece, Bryanna Johns, two aunts, Mae Parker and Pearl Hardeman; a devoted friend, Realus Carter; her best friend, Nadine White, and a host of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral Services for Ms. Madeline Lavern Rainey Broadie will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Curtis Broadie, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing will begin on Friday at 5:00 P.M., with the family receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M at the chapel. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
