Mabel D. Ogburn

Mrs. Mabel D. Ogburn, 85, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at W. S. Hundley Extended Care Facility, South Hill, VA. Mrs. Ogburn was born in Mecklenburg County, VA June 25, 1925 to the late Enley and Adell Yancey Jeffers. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Boydton, VA. Mrs. Ogburn was a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Ogburn; two daughters and two brothers. Cherishing her memories are nine children, Elizabeth Pulliam (Morton Jr.)  Arlington, VA, Bertha Garner, Chase City, VA, Jasper Ogburn Jr. Alexandria, VA, James Ogburn (Lena) Fayetteville, NC, Catherine Hilliard, Queens, NY, Alfreddie Ogburn (Louise), Alexandria, VA, David Ogburn (Brenda),  Hillsborough, NC, John Ogburn (Lynette) of Stafford, VA and Michael Ogburn (Valerie) of Landover, MD; 27 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters, Blanche Spratley, Hampton, VA, Shirley Johnson, Richmond, VA and Dorothy Kearse, Covington, GA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel D. Ogburn will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 7, 2011 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with burial following in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Boydton, VA. The family will receive friends Monday form 1:00 P.M. until service time. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
